Motown Washington DC | The National Theatre

Music will fill the Washington DC air this holiday season! Motown The Musical, the record-breaking hit musical that showcases the best of Motown music, joins the exciting 2015/16 season of Broadway at The National. Opening on December 1, 2015, Motown The Musical plays The National Theatre for five weeks until January 3, 2016.

Beginning as a man’s story, Motown The Musical is also the story of the music that altered America’s social landscape. Inspired the Motown Records founder Berry Gordy’s story, Motown The Musical follows Gordy from his brief stint as a featherweight boxer wannabe to his years as the heavyweight music mogul behind the legendary Motown label that launched the stellar careers of the likes of Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross. Motown music went on to shatter the racial barriers that segregated America and made everyone move to one beat.

Experience the captivating story behind the celebrated Motown music as Motown The Musical takes over The National Theatre stage from Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 PM, on Fridays at 8 PM, on Saturdays at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on Sundays at 2 PM and 7:30 PM. With an intermission, Motown The Musical plays for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
