Legendary Motown music is the rage in Portland this summer! Motown The Musical, the new hit musical that took the Great White Way by storm, will be in town for the US Bank Broadway in Portland’s stellar 2015-2016 season. Opening on June 14, 2016, Motown The Musical takes center stage at the Keller Auditorium for eight performances until June 19, 2016.
From being a featherweight boxer wannabe, Berry Gordy became the heavyweight music tycoon behind the Motown label, which launched the careers of many music greats like Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, and Diana Ross. Based on his 1994 autobiography, Motown The Musical is not only Gordy’s personal story but also of his Motown family and the music that became a catalyst for change in racially-segregated America. Filled with spirited dance numbers and over 50 timeless Motown hits, Motown The Musical will take its Portland audience on an unforgettable trip down memory lane. This smash hit show is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright.
Don’t miss Motown The Musical as it conquers the Keller Auditorium stage on June 14 to 17 (Tuesday to Friday) at 7:30 PM, on June 18 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, and on June 19 (Sunday) at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. With a 15-minute intermission, the running time of Motown The Musical is 2 hours and 40 minutes.
