Ward off the wintry spell with a high energy and resounding explosion of song and dance! Newsies, the smash hit and acclaimed Broadway musical inspired by the delightful Disney movie of the same name, joins the blockbuster 2015-2016 season of EJGH Broadway in New Orleans. Opening on December 1, 2015, Newsies conquers the Saenger Theatre for eight performances only until December 6, 2015.
Based on the historical newsboys strike in 1899 in New York City, Newsies retells the captivating and inspiring story of a ragged group of underdogs who made history when they stand up to the city’s most powerful men. With a simple dream for a good life, Jack and his fellow newspaper boys are forced to make a stand when the publishing titans of New York decides to increase their profit at the expense of the poor newsboys. Newsies is the Tony Award winner in 2012 for Best Choreography and Best Score.
Don’t miss the heart pounding Newsies shows at the Sanger Theatre on December 1 to 3 (Tuesday to Thursday) at 7:30 PM, on December 4 (Friday) at 8 PM, on December 5 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on December 6 (Sunday) at 2 PM and 7:30 PM. With a 15-minute intermission, the running time of Newsies is 2 hours and 20 minutes.
