Newsies Denver | Buell Theatre

Newsies, the Tony winning and high-kicking Broadway musical, heads out on its widely anticipated National Tour and will be in Denver this spring! Opening on March 23, 2016, Newsies takes over the Buell Theatre stage at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for three weeks until April 9, 2016.

At the turn of the century, the homeless and orphaned New York newsboys who make their living by hawking newspapers must deal with poor wages and rising prices. When the powerful owners of the city’s biggest newspapers impose a new policy that would cut down the newsboys’ meager earnings, the newsboys band together, go on strike, and bring New York City to a standstill. With unmistakable classic Broadway flair, high-spirited dance routines, and unforgettable songs like “King of New York” and “Seize The Day,” Newsies won the Tony for Best Choreography and Best Score in 2012. Based on a 1992 Disney film and inspired by New York’s 1899 Newsboys Strike, Newsies is the blazing and acclaimed musical Denver should not miss!

Don’t just read about it! Join the brave New York newsboys as Newsies opens at the Buell Theatre on March 23 (Wednesday) at 7:30 PM. The regular weeknight performances are at 7:30 PM from Tuesdays through Fridays while the regular weekend performances are at 2 PM and 7:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The performances of Newsies are 2 hours and 15 minutes long, including one intermission.
