Are you ready for an unforgettable life story coming to Boston, MA this Broadway season?
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical portrays the life and career of Carole King, who was truly “the voice of her generation”. From a shy teenager trying to break into the record business at just 17, Brooklyn native Carole Klein soon finds herself standing at the top of the music charts, being married to songwriter Gerry Goffin with whom she will write hits for artists like: The Monkees, The Shirelles, The Drifters or Aretha Franklin. But her most inspiring and self-revealing project is her first solo album, entitled Tapestry, which soon became the soundtrack of a generation. The album showcases “the real, conflicted person within the reluctant star” (New York Times).
The musical score features classic hits such as: Will You Love Me Tomorrow, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, So Far Away, Natural Woman, One Fine Day and Take Good Care of My Baby. Direction is led by Marc Bruni, while the book is developed by Oscar nominee Douglas McGrath. Choreography is handled by Josh Prince.
When it was first released, Tapestry was an outstanding success and has held the record for most weeks as Billboard’s Number 1 album by a female artist for over 20 years. During her rise to stardom, Carole King has also won 4 Grammy Awards, made 25 albums, while more than 400 of her songs have been recorded by over 1000 artists.
