42nd Street Portland | Keller Auditorium

42nd Street Portland | Keller Auditorium

The American Dream comes alive on Portland stage this fall! 42nd Street, the stunning new production of a classic backstage musical comedy, is the 2015-2016 US Bank Broadway in Portland’s Halloween week offering. Opening on October 27, 2015, 42nd Street has a limited eight-performance engagement at the Keller Auditorium until November 1, 2015.

Inspired by Bradford Rope’s novel and Busby Berkeley’s subsequent film adaptation, 42nd Street is the story of Peggy Sawyer, a young and hopeful actress who leaves Allentown to try her luck in New York and to audition for an upcoming new Broadway production. Cast as one of the chorus girls, Peggy’s luck started to change when the lead star fractures her ankle. Called in to take on the lead role, Peggy is on her way to becoming a star. 42nd Street features book by Mark Bramble and Michael Stewart, choreography by Randy Skinner, and score by Al Dubin and Harry Warren that include Broadway standards like “Dames,” “Shuffle Off to Buffalo,” We’re in the Money,” “I Only Have Eyes for You, and “Lullaby of Broadway.”

Catch 42nd Street as it plays the Keller Auditorium at 7:30 PM on October 27 to 30 (Tuesday to Friday), at 2 PM and 7:30 PM on October 31 (Saturday), and at 1 PM and 6:30 PM on November 1 (Sunday). Each 42nd Street show runs for 160 minutes.
