The American Dream comes alive on Jacksonville stage this January! 42nd Street, the hit quintessential backstage comedy musical classic, joins the FSCJ Artist Series Broadway in Jacksonville’s blockbuster 2015-2016 season. Opening on January 12, 2016, 42nd Street takes center stage at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts’ Moran Theater until January 17, 2016.
A song and dance Broadway fable, 42nd Street is the story of Peggy Sawyer as she leaves her home in Allentown and goes to New York to audition for an upcoming big musical production. Cast as one of the show’s chorus girls, Peggy is on her way to achieving her American Dream. When the show’s female lead succumbs to an ankle injury, Peggy finds herself taking over the role and fast becoming a star. 42nd Street features memorable score by Al Dubin and Harry Warren that include some of the greatest classics like “I Only Have Eyes For You” and “Lullaby of Broadway.” Choreographed by Randy Skinner and directed by Mark Bramble, the team behind sensational 2001 production that won the Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, 42nd Street is the sparkling new production Jacksonville should not miss!
