A dazzling parade of glittery shoes is on its way to Detroit! Kinky Boots, the acclaimed Broadway hit that won the Tony for Best Musical in 2013, has a thirteen-performance engagement at the Fisher Theatre on January 15 to 25, 2015.
Inspired by real events and adapted from the 2005 film of the same name, Kinky Boots follows the story of Charlie, a young and straitlaced shoe factory owner who tries to turn his family’s business around. Forming an unlikely business partnership with a drag queen entertainer, his factory starts making customized transvestite footwear for a new clientele – drag artists. Kinky Boots features a Tony Award winning score by Cyndi Lauper and a brilliant book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein.
Don’t miss the opening night of Kinky Boots at the Fisher Theatre on January 15 (Wednesday) at 7:30 PM. The regular weeknight (Tuesday through Friday) performances are at 7:30 PM while the weekend shows are at 2 PM and 8 PM every Saturday and at 1 PM every Sunday, with a special 6:30 performance on January 18 (Sunday). Kinky Boots runs for 2 hours and 20 minutes.
