Wicked Orlando | Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

Orlando’s Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts will be home to Wicked, the well loved and critically-acclaimed Broadway musical, from January 11 through 29, 2017.

Revisit the magical Land of Oz years before Dorothy’s arrival and meet the young women who later became the unforgettable witches of Oz. Wicked presents a tale parallel to L. Frank Baum’s much adored The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and re-imagines the circumstances that shaped the emergence of the Wicked Witch of the West, the Wicked Witch of the East, and the Good Witch of the North. Wicked also reveals the personas behind the characters that accompanied Dorothy and Toto down the Yellow Brick Road in a journey to Emerald City – Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion.

The performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.

“It has built-in familiarity — the show is based on Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel, which in turn is based on L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz.” And audiences respond to the visual magnitude; in Orlando, applause broke out at the top of the show when the mechanical dragon started to move.” – Matthew J. Palm of Orlando Sentinel

“Wicked” – which actually goes under the full title “The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz,” certainly doesn’t spare much when it comes to production values, from the dragon above the stage with the fiery red eyes, to the Wizard’s own elaborate kingdom.” – R. T. Robeson of Freeline Media Orlando
