‘Traces’ comes to Music City in February 2013. The Andrew Jackson Hall at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville will host this critically acclaimed and highly raved modern circus from French-Canadian troupe 7 Fingers with eight performances spread out from the 19th to the 24th.
This is not your traditional circus or your ordinary street show. ‘Traces’ is as rhythmic, graceful and precise as the other huge-ensemble and long-running circuses that has graced the Great White Way and the global stage, but it also contains within it the energy, rawness and spontaneity of the streets and the modernity that these times and generation calls for and heeds. From the simplest and effortless of movements to the most challenging sports and dance moves, ‘Traces’ whips these seemingly ordinary tasks into great acrobatic feats, defying physical limitations and perhaps even death. But it doesn’t start and end there, each of the seven performers leave a trace of themselves onstage, more than their breathtaking stunts, they each shed a layer of themselves through a story, an anecdote, a statement or a seemingly impertinent information about themselves. Candid and superbly impressive, ‘Traces’ reaches out to audiences by including them in the entire experience, where the urban chaos becomes a source of inspiration instead of exhaustion and where the circus is no longer just a visual marvel, but has been transformed to a medium where profoundly stirring, innovative and entertaining expressionism materializes.
Show times for ‘Traces’ in Nashville are at 7:30 PM from February 19 to 21, 8 PM on February 22 and 23, and 6:30 PM on February 24. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on the 23rd and 1 PM on the 24th. The performance running time is 90 minutes with no intermission.
