Katie Postotnik, Steven Grant Douglas Cast in ‘Ghost The Musical’ Tour
The national tour of Ghost The Musical will feature Katie Postotnik and Steven Grant Douglas as lovers Molly Jenson and Sam Wheat. The announcement came via Troika Entertainment and Michael Coppel in association with Hilary Williams, Margot Astrachan Production/Dennis Grimaldi Productions/Paul Lucas Productions/Robert Sher and Paramount Pictures on August 22, 2013. The tour will launch September 14, 2013 at in Schenectady, NY, at Proctors Theater.
Postotnik is not a newbie to the touring scene. She was a member of the national tour of Rock of Ages as well as the regional tours of All Shook Up and The Wedding Singer. Douglas on the other hand will be making his national tour debut, though he has been seen in the regional tours of production greats Aida, Avenue Q, and Rent. Other key members of the cast include Carla R. Stewart as Oda Mae Brown and Robby Haltiwanger as Carl Bruner.
Ghost The Musical is based on the well known film entitled Ghost which starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg. It tells the story of Sam and Molly who are robbed as they return to their New York apartment. Sam is tragically murdered and remains on Earth as a ghost. He travels with Molly, and upon discovering she is in trouble he attempts to use a psychic as a means of communicating with and protecting her from the danger that in her future.
The show is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus and features an original screenplay by Oscar winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin. Musical direction is handled by David Holcenberg, Hugh Vanstone handles lighting, Jon Driscoll handles video projection design, Chistopher Nightingale handles musical supervision and arrangements, and Ashley Wallen handles the show’s choreography.
Major stops on the tour include cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Orlando, and Los Angeles among several others.
