Justin Bartha Joins Danny DeVito, Judd Hirsch in Los Angeles’ ‘The Sunshine Boys’
The Center Theatre Group has made the announcement that Justin Bartha will accompany Danny DeVito and Judd Hirsch in the Neil Simon production of The Sunshine Boys. Bartha will be replacing David Krumholtz (previously announced) who had to leave due to personal reasons.
Bartha debuted on Broadway in Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me A Tenor which also starred Tony Shalhoub and Anthony LaPaglia. He was recently seen on the big screen in The Hangover III in the same role played in the previous two films. Other film credits include National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Bartha however, may be best known for his role on the NBC comedy series The New Normal. He will also be a part of the upcoming CBGB.
In addition to Justin Bartha, Danny DeVito, and Judd Hirsch, the cast will also feature the talents of Annie Abrams, Matthew Bohrer, Benjamin Burdick, Gibby Brand, Johnnie Fiori, Frank Kopyc and PaSean Wilson.
As described the Center Theatre Group, the show is the story of “Willie Clark (DeVito) and Al Lewis (Hirsch) [who] are former vaudevillian stars who, after a partnership of over 40 years, are no longer speaking to each other. When a lucrative television offer for one last show lures them into a grudging reunion, sparks fly in this classic comedy of showbiz and friendship.”
DeVito has shared his joy about being in the production saying in a statement, “I’m so excited to be working with Judd again. We did a play together 43 years ago and then, of course, did 114 episodes of ‘Taxi.” I’m so excited – did I say that already? This is gonna be a total blast.”
The show is directed by Thea Sharrock and produced by Center Theatre Group. It features costume design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting design by Neil Austin, music by Adrian Johnston, and sound design by Cricket S. Myers.
A preview of the show is set to kick off in Los Angeles September 24. The official opening date of the show is scheduled for October 2 and will run though November 3.
