Hugh Jackman Set to Host the Tony Awards

Academy Award nominee and Tony and Golden Globe winner Hugh Jackman will host the 68th Annual Tony Awards live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The Awards will be broadcast Sunday, June 8 on CBS at 8PM ET. This will serve as Jackman’s fourth time hosting the Tony Awards; having previously hosted the 57th, 58th, and 59th Annual Tony Awards.

Executive Director of The Broadway League, Charlotte St. Martin and Executive Director of the American Theatre Wing, Heather Hitchens shared in a statement, “We are thrilled that Hugh will be joining us, once again, at Radio City Music Hall to host ‘The 68th Annual Tony Awards. Hugh is an extraordinary talent and loyal supporter of the Broadway community – whether he is on-stage or in the audience – and we are honored to have him back as host.”

Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events, CBS Entertainment shared his own statement saying, “We are thrilled to have Hugh Jackman return to host the Tony Awards. He’s the ultimate triple threat – actor, singer, dancer – he does it all, second to none. He is a consummate entertainer and the one you ultimately want out there hosting your live television event.”

Jackman received an Emmy Award for hosting the 58th Annual Tony Awards in the category of Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.

Jackman has been seen most recently in the film Prisoners alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. He has also starred in The Wolverine and the Oscar-nominated film adaptation of Les Miserables. Additional projects featuring the actor include the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Greatest Showman on Earth. Jackman’s Broadway credits include Hugh Jackman…One Night Only, Back on Broadway, A Steady Rain, and The Boy From Oz for which he won a 2004 Tony Award.
