Gloria Estefan Musical Gets Chicago Pre-Broadway Run Summer 2015

It has been announced by Broadway in Chicago, The Nederlander Organization, and Estefan Enterprises, Inc., that a new musical based on the life of international superstar Glora Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan, entitled On Your Feet!, will have a Pre-Broadway premiere in Chicago coming Summer 2015.

Gloria Estefan is by far the most successful Latin crossover performer in pop music history. Estefan has received numerous awards over the course of her career including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, recognition as BMI Songwriter of the Year, an American Music Lifetime Achievement Award, an MTV Video Music Award, two ACE Awards, and various Billboard Awards for her numerous chart-topping singles. In addition to those honors, she has received the Ellis Island Congressional Medal of Honor, the Hispanic Heritage Award, and the National Music Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year Award.

Emilio Estefan is a top-of-the-line music, television, and film producer who was vital in his wife’s success as well as the success of other stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Ricky Martin, and Marc Anthony among others. His list of accomplishments include more than 30 Grammy nominations and 19 Grammy Awards. He has been known to challenge the status quo by combining Latin, pop, world rhythms to create unique sound that has topped charts over and over again.

On Your Feet! will be directed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell an is produced by The Nederlander Organization and Estefan Enterprises in conjunction with Bernie Yuman. It tells the story of two individuals whose commitment to one another and their dreams resulted in their rise to global superstardom via their music, their heritage, and their talent. The show uses Gloria’s hits as a backdrop including “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, “1-2-3,” “Mi Tierra,” and “Conga,” in addition to new music penned by the Estefans. The production will feature choreography by four-time Drama Desk Award nominee Sergio Trujillo and a book by two-time Drama Desk Award nominee Alexander Dinelaris. Additional members of the creative team and casting will be announced at a later date.
