The majestic and romantic ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is ready to sweep Baltimore off its feet with a two-week run at the Hippodrome Theatre of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center from May 10 – 15, 2016.
Based on the Academy Award winning Disney animated film of the same name, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ tells the story of Belle, a lovely small town girl who crosses paths with a princely beast trapped in a time-sensitive curse because of his pride and hubris. As the two opposites live together in the castle also inhabited by the prince’s animated household, who were likewise cursed just like their master, they discover that true love takes a leap of faith, trust and acceptance. The musical also features spectacular scenic designs, costumes and production numbers all underscored by grand, heartwarming and highly acclaimed themes such as the titular track, ‘Be Our Guest’ and many others, all penned and composed by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
Show times for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ are at 7:30 PM from Tuesdays to Saturdays and 6:30 PM on Sundays. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on Saturdays and 1 PM on Sundays. The performance running time is 2 hours and 30 minutes with 1 intermission.
