Adam Lambert Joins the Cast of ‘Glee’ for Season Five

Adam Lambert Joins the Cast of ‘Glee’ for Season Five

There have been rumors floating around for some time that former “American Idol” contestant Adam Lambert would rejoin the show as a judge. Now it turns out Lambert will return to the Fox Network, but on “Glee” instead of “Idol.”

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy tweeted the news that Lambert will join the upcoming fifth season of the show.

“I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall,” Murphy wrote on his official account. Lambert later responded, “I’m so excited!!”

There’s been no word yet as to what role Lambert will play on the show, but that will likely be revealed in the coming weeks before the show premieres. In addition to rumors that Lambert would appear on “American Idol,” it also has been rumored for years that he would come to “Glee,” at least as a guest star. In fact, “Glee” star Lea Michele said back in 2009 that she would love to work with Lambert on the show.

“I want to sing with Adam Lambert so badly!” she said. “I think he is so incredibly talented. He’s a vocal freak. It’s like working out: If you want to work out well, then you want to train with the best…that’s how I feel about Adam Lambert. That’s my metaphor.”

Earlier this year, Lambert praised “Glee” to the Hollywood Reporter, saying that it paints “a picture of what it’s like to be an arts kid in high school … ‘Glee’ is really irresistible — it’s charming.” He also said that he would like to play himself if he ever appeared on the show.

The fifth season of “Glee” is scheduled to premiere September 19. It is unclear if Lambert will be part of the cast from the first episode of the season, however.
