‘Wicked’ comes to San Diego this summer for the third time after breaking box office records in 2006 and 2009. This Tony and Grammy Award winning musical is slated for a month-long run at the Civic Theatre from June 20 to July 15, 2012.
‘Wicked’ boasts of colorful and fully animated characters, vibrant set designs, unforgettable music penned by the award winning Stephen Schwartz, and most of all, a story that is not only heartwarming and enlightening, but more importantly, sheds light on the life and times of the Witches of Oz – the Good Witch of the North and the famous and infamous Wicked Witch of the West, who earned a bad rep in the tale of the ‘Wizard of Oz’ after Dorothy left her mundane Kansas life, hopped on a train and entered the gaudy world of Munchkinland.
Show times for the San Diego engagement of ‘Wicked’ are at 7 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 7:30 PM on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 6:30 PM on Sundays. There will be no performances on July 4, Wednesday, however, a special performance will be held on July 2, Monday, at 7 PM. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on Saturdays and 1 PM on Sundays with a special matinee on June 21, Thursday, at 1 PM. The performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.
