Defy gravity this fall with the arrival of the critically acclaimed and Tony Award winning prequel to the story of the Wizard of Oz. Wicked will be flying up and westward for a month-long run at the Keller Auditorium in Portland, Oregon from August 5 – 23, 2015.
Kansas-bred Dorothy wasn’t the only one with an adventurous story to tell, the witches she met in Munchkinland had theirs to share too. Before they realized their wicked destinies, Elphaba and Galinda were different in every way, from their physical appearances, to how society perceived each of them and how they each perceived society in return. When it came to fulfilling their bewitched fortunes, they continued to walk opposite paths with Galinda becoming the Good Witch of the North and Elphaba becoming the infamous Wicked Witch of the West. Their longstanding rivalry, spellbinding dynamics and interaction, dramatic conflicts and enchanting adventures with equally magical creatures and characters encompass what USA Today calls as “the most complete – and completely satisfying – new musical in a long time”. Joe Mantello directs this Winnie Holzman stage adaptation which also features the beloved songs and scores of Stephen Schwartz.
Show times for Wicked are at 7:30 PM from Tuesdays to Saturdays and 6:30 PM on Sundays. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on Saturdays and 1 PM on Sundays. The Wicked performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.
