Wicked Des Moines | Civic Center

Wicked Des Moines | Civic Center

Catch the immensely popular Broadway phenomena, Wicked, as it makes a return run at the Des Moines Performing Arts Civic Center. There will be witches and wizards this Halloween when the Ozians come to town this October 2013!

Wicked tears down the emerald curtain and reveals the dark secrets of the magical land of Oz. Who would have known that the Wicked Witch of the West was once a Governer’s daughter tasked with taking care of her crippled little sister and the unfortunate predicament of being born with mysterious green skin? Or that the beautiful, bubbly Glinda the Good was once an overly ambitious young woman, who despite her zeal, was unremarkable at the magical arts? These two completely different women, who at first declare their absolute loathing for each other, eventually forge a friendship that cuts through the very foundation of everything they thought to be true in Oz, where nothing, as it turns out, is truly good or wicked.

Witches and winged monkeys fly to the Des Moines Performing Arts Civic Center on October 30 through November 10, 2013. Performances are set at 7:30pm on Tuesdays through Saturdays and at 6:30pm on Sundays. Afternoon matinees will begin at 2:00pm on October 31, and November 2 and 9. Sunday afternoon shows start at 1:00pm.

“Wicked’s production value is second to none. From the costumes to the lighting and set design, Wicked is an unbelievable spectacle to behold.” – Brooke Bridenstine of Broadway World Des Moines

“Even without the multimillion-dollar sets and costumes, it’s a moving story with beautiful music and relatable characters. It’s embedded in our culture now, as solid as bricks in the yellow brick road.” – Michael Morain of Des Moines Register
