West Side Story Begins Tour in Detroit September 30

The timeless tale of New York’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, also known as “West Side Story” will be pounding the pavement beginning

this fall after its successful revival at the Great White Way last year.

The tour will kick off with a run in Detroit’s Fisher Theatre starting today, September 30. The huge ensembled musical will

feature the talents of Ali Ewoldt as Maria, Kyle Harris as Tony, Joseph J. Simeone as Riff, German Santiago as Bernardo and

Michelle Aravena as Anita. Also included are Mike Boland as Krupke, Stephen DeRosa as Glad Hand, Alexandra Frohlinger as

Anybodys, Jay Garcia as Chino, Ryan Christopher Chotto as A-rab, Drew Foster as Action, Kyle Robinson as Diesel, Nathan Keen

as Big Deal, Grant Gustin as Baby John, John O’Creagh as Doc, Christopher Patrick Mullen as Schrank, and Neil Haskell as

Snowboy.

Also joining the tour are Alicia Charles, Isaac Benelli, Lauren Boyd, Ted Ely, Beth Crandall, Ryan Ghysels, Dean Andre de

Luna, Tim Hausmann, Dea Julien, Kristen Paulicelli, Daniel Kermidas, Christie Portera, Kirstin Tucker, Erika Santillana,

Michael Scirrotto, Jeffrey C. Sousa, Lori Ann Ferreri, Jessica Swesey, Kathryn Lin Terza and Kevin Santos.

The touring production will be spearheaded by director David Saint who worked side by side with the musical’s playwright

Arthur Laurents who directed the 2009 Broadway revival. The touring production will also bring along Tony Award nominated

choreographer Joey McKneely, costume designer and another Tony Award nominee David C. Woolard, set designer James Youmans,

Tony Award winning lighting designer Howell Binkley, Tony Award nominated sound designer Dan Moses Schreier and hair and

make-up artist Mark Adam Rampmeyer.

The musical will continue to feature the award winning and critically acclaimed story penned by Tony Award winner Arthur

Laurents and the musical compositions of award winning musicians Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.
