‘Traces’ will play the Carol Morsani Hall of the Straz Center in Tampa, FL all week-long from January 29 to February 3, 2013. Take your family or friends along to experience this unique and new approach to circus which will surely leave a trace in everyone’s minds and keep audiences hanging on the edge of their seats.
‘Traces’ is all about impressions, the trace or mark one leaves behind, or in this case, one leaves onstage. A brand new take on the traditional circus, ‘Traces’ turns the innate energy and chaos of the streets into a resonating medium of expression. Combine this with awesome and death-defying stunts – a stripped down and more intimate version of Cirque du Soleil, if you will – then you have what Time Out New York rates as a perfect, “five star” show, and the finest, most exciting and most inspiring 90 minutes of your life. No other theatrical hit has audiences marveling at every physical feat while taking away something from the performers – a story, an observation or a declaration. Intimate, profound, resonating and vibrant, ‘Traces’ mirrors today’s ultra-modern and fast-paced lifestyle with its urban inspired costumes, sets and presentations, and amidst the timely imageries are seven performers who walk the talk – literally, who peel off a layer of themselves and expose their vulnerabilities to the audience. Up in the air, atop unsteady stacks of chairs or within an aerial loop, these artists are like superheroes, but once they speak and mutter words like “I’m clumsy”, they are just like everyone else – the daredevil version of everyone else, that is.
‘Traces’ will play the Straz Center at 7:30 PM from January 29 to 31, 8 PM on February 1 and 2, and 6:30 PM on February 3. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on February 2nd and 1 PM on February 3rd. The performance running time is 90 minutes with no intermission.
