The celebrated Von Trapps will be in Tampa for the holidays! The Sound of Music, the brand new production of a well-loved theater classic, is the Christmas offering of The Straz Center’s exciting 2015-2016 Broadway Series. Opening on December 22, 2015, The Sound of Music takes center stage at the Carol Morsani Hall until December 27, 2015.
This The Sound of Music production breathes new life on the legendary tale of Maria and the Family Von Trapp immortalized in its acclaimed and smash hit film version starring Julie Andrews, which is widely considered as the most successful and most beloved movie musical of all time and is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. This Christmas season, be swept away by the romantic and spirited tale of Maria and be thrilled once again with its Grammy, Academy, and Tony Award winning score that includes musical classics like “The Sound of Music,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain, “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss,” and “My Favorite Things.”
Behold the hills come alive with music as The Sound of Music plays the Straz Center’s Carol Morsani Hall on December 22 to 24 (Tuesday to Thursday) at 7:30 PM, on December 25 (Friday) at 8 PM, on December 26 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on December 27 (Sunday) at 2 PM and 7:30 PM. The December 24 performance is a Sign Language Interpreted show. The running time of The Sound of Music is 174 minutes.
