The Von Trapps are trooping to Charlotte this fall! The Sound of Music, the classic and acclaimed musical about Maria and her Von Trapp family, joins the 2015-2016 PNC Broadway Lights series. Opening on November 24, 2015, The Sound of Music takes over the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Belk Theater for a week until November 29, 2015.
Directed by Jack O’Brien, The Sound of Music breathes life anew to the beloved tale of Maria. While a novitiate in a monastery, Maria is assigned as governess to Captain Von Trapp’s children. With her perseverance and love for music, Maria soon wins the hearts not only of the rowdy Von Trapp children but also of their father. The Sound of Music features its Tony, Academy, and Grammy Awards winning musical score that includes unforgettable classics like “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” and, of course, the title song.
Sing with Maria as The Sound of Music plays the Belk Theater at 7:30 PM on November 24 to 26 (Tuesday to Thursday), at 8 PM on November 27 (Friday), at 2 PM and 8 PM on November 28 (Saturday), and at 1:30 PM and 7 PM on November 29 (Sunday).
