The Lion King Miami | Adrienne Arsht Center

Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ is coming to Miami for a month-long run just in time for summer. It is slated to hit the Ziff Ballet Opera House of the Adrienne Arsht Center from May 15 to June 10, 2012.

One of the longest running musicals in Broadway and a certified blockbuster and critical hit, ‘The Lion King’ follows the life and journey of Simba, the rightful heir to the Pride Rock throne. But jealousy, hatred, deceit and contempt from Simba’s uncle Scar caused him to run away not only from the throne, but from everything he knew and loved – his family, his friends and the life he always knew. He led a wandering and dangerous life outside the protection of his realm, leaving him open to scavenging and opportunistic hyenas and everything unexpected. This inspiring and heartwarming story about friendships – both unlikely and familiar, family, love and peaceful and harmonious coexistence is underscored by tunes penned by Elton John and is breathed to life through a stunning and mesmerizing visual spectacle of lifelike and life-size animals, roaming and ruling around the safari as if the stage was their own kingdom. Newsweek calls ‘The Lion King’ “a landmark event in entertainment”, a rave seconded by The New York Times by hailing that “there is simply nothing else like it”.

Show times for ‘The Lion King’ in Miami are at 8 PM from Tuesdays to Saturdays and 6:30 PM on Sundays. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on Saturdays and 1 PM on Sundays with a special Friday matinee on June 8 at 2 PM. The performance running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with 1 intermission.
