Rolling with the audience frenzy that accompanied “Glee,” NBC’s new musically-inclined show “Smash,” will feature two prominent Broadway regulars. Savannah Wise and Wesley Taylor have recently announced that they have struck a deal with NBC to appear in the first season of “Smash” which will appear on television beginning February 6, 2012. The show centers on a creative duo who are dedicated to completing a musical production based on the life of famed actress Marilyn Monroe. As Stephen Spielberg is leading the production team, we can rest assured that this program will be a cut above your average T.V. show.
Savannah Wise has made numerous appearances on Broadway, including castings in “Les Miserables,” “Rock of Ages” and “Ragtime.” Wesley Taylor has appeared in Broadway productions of the acclaimed “Rock of Ages” and “The Addams Family.”
With musical theater becoming a television spectacle, let’s hope that Broadway will continue to fare well in our tough economic times. As these theatres are truly a symbol of American culture, it serves the grand ol’ 50 states well to have every seat filled in these amazing venues.
