‘Rock of Ages’ comes to Music City, or as the TPAC hails it, Musical City, this spring. The Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville plays host to this epic Broadway party from Chris D’Arienzo and the heroes of ‘80s rock on April 19 and 20, 2013.
Everyone’s invited in this rare Broadway party that pays homage to the greatest heart-melting rock songs of the ‘80s such as Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’, Pat Benatar’s ‘Hit Me with Your Best Shot’, Bon Jovi’s ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’, Survivor’s ‘The Search is Over’, Reo Speedwagon’s ‘Can’t Fight this Feeling’ and many more. More than the anthemic and nostalgic power ballads to which the crazy, sexy and sometimes funny exploits of the musical’s characters are told is an era perfectly and infectiously recaptured, not only through the hits that made us both cringe and smile, but also through the layers – or lack thereof – of leather, spandex, fishnets, bandanas, bleached hair and hairspray that painted the picture of a crazy, sexy, inebriated, hormonal, musically and fashionably dynamic and a socially and culturally groundbreaking decade.
‘Rock of Ages’ will play the TPAC at 8 PM with a matinee performance at 2 PM on April 20. The performance running time is 2 hours 20 minutes with 1 intermission.
