Patti Lupone, Mandy Patinkin Book Dates on Broadway

Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin are reuniting on Broadway for the first time since their Tony-winning performances in ‘Evita’. Opening November 21, ‘An Evening With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin’ will open at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, and will run through January 13th, 2012.

LuPone and Patinkin have played in concert together many times over the years and are mounting their Broadway run after well-reviewed performances around the U.S., Australia, Toronto and New Zealand. According to a review, ‘An Evening With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin’ features the music of Stephen Sondheim and Richard Rodgers.

LuPone, a Tony winner for ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Evita’, was most recently seen on Broadway in a Tony-nominated performance in ‘Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.’ She also received Tony nominations for ‘Sweeney Todd’, ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘The Robber Bridegroom.’ This past spring, she starred with Neil Patrick Harris in a star-studded, one-night only revival of Sondheim’s ‘Company.’

Patinkin recently starred in ‘Compulsion’. In addition to his Tony for ‘Evita’ (as Che), he received Tony nominations for ‘The Wild Party’ and ‘Sunday in the Park with George.’ Other Broadway credits include ‘The Secret Garden’ and ‘Falsettos.’ Patinkin was featured in the film in ‘The Princess Bride’, ‘Yentl’, and “Dick Tracy’. He also starred in the TV series ‘Chicago Hope’ (which he won an Emmy award for), ‘Criminal Minds’ and ‘Dead Like Me’. His latest solo recording, ‘Mandy Patinkin Sings Sondheim’ is available now on the Nonsuch label.
