Once New York | Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre
‘Once’, the 2012 Tony Award winner for Best Musical continues its “more-than-once” staging at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. This critically acclaimed intimate musical which opened on March 18th is slated for an open-ended run in the Great White Way.
An emotionally piercing and melodic production that is unlike any other musical Broadway has seen – cozy, poignant and natural, without the lavishness and glitterati featured in most musicals – ‘Once’ engages the romantic in each of us, but also hits us with the heartbreaking realities of life. A resonating love story conjoined by the lead characters’ common passion for music, ‘Once’ reminds us that love is the universe’s greatest paradox, one that can bloom in the unlikeliest of circumstances, amidst loneliness, frustration, despair and passion, a consuming emotion that can fuel inspirations and further drive aspirations, but it can also lead to sorrow, fears and tears, yet the irony is many are still willing to take a chance on it, because for some which includes the musical’s “Guy” and “Girl”, such an overpowering emotion only comes once.
‘Once’ plays the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre at 7 PM every Tuesday and 8 PM from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays and 3 PM on Sundays.
