Nic Rouleau, Ben Platt Move From Tour to Broadway in ‘Book of Mormon’

Book of Mormon tour stars Nic Rouleau and Ben Platt announced via Twitter that they will be making the move to Broadway to star in the show. The pair will replace Matt Doyle and Cody Jamison Strand as Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, respectively. The switch will take place January 2014.

Rouleau shared in a post, “Thrilled to announce that Heavenly Father is sending me back to Broadway to serve another mission at @BookofMormon in January!!” Platt shared, “Bursting with excitement to finally announce that I will be joining the Broadway company of @BookofMormon this January!! #DreamComeTrue #NYC”.

The production is directed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw and four-time Emmy Award winner Trey Parker. It features a book, music, and lyrics by four-time Emmy Award winner Matt Stone, Trey Parker, as well as Tony Award winner Robert Lopez. The musical is also choreographed by Nicholaw. Additional members of the creative team include Scott Pask with set design, Ann Roth with costume design, Brian MacDevitt with lighting design, and Brian Ronan with sound design. Orchestrations are by Larry Hochman and Stephen Oremus. Music direction and vocal arrangements are by Stephen Oremus.

The Book of Mormon has won nine Tony Awards in the categories of Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best Direction, Best Featured Actress, Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Sound Design, and Best Orchestrations. Additionally, it has won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical; five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album; and four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical, and the Drama League Award for Best Musical.
