Christie Brinkley Returns to Broadway in ‘Chicago,’ Joins National Tour

Christie Brinkley will return to Broadway in April to revisit the role of Roxie Hart in “Chicago.” After a limited three-week engagement, the supermodel will head out on the road with the national tour production of the musical, where she will perform the same role.

Brinkley made her stage debut in the role last year, and followed up her critically acclaimed performance by appearing in the West End version, as well. Her Broadway appearances will begin Friday, April 6 and run through Friday, April 27. As part of the tour, Brinkley will play the role of Hart during a two-week run at the Panatages Theatre in Los Angeles from May 15-27. Additional dates for the tour will be announced soon.

The current Broadway production of the show, a revival of the original 1975 version, has been running since 1996. Since 2003, performances have been held at the shows current location at the Ambassador Theatre. As of this month, the show has played over 6,200 performances, making it the fourth-longest running show of all-time on Broadway and the longest-running musical. The revival of “Chicago” won six Tony Awards in 1997, including Best Revival of a Musical. Roxie Hart is a housewife and nightclub dancer in 1920s Chicago who murders her lover after he threatens to leave her.

Brinkley became one of the world’s most renowned supermodels in the late 1970s and early 1980s, during which time she became the only model to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition for three consecutive years.

She began her acting career in 1983 when she appeared in “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” which starred Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. She reprised her role in the sequel, “Vegas Vacation.” Additionally, she has appeared on the NBC sitcom “Mad About You,” and hosted the Lifetime Network’s “InStyle Celebrity Weddings.”
