‘Catch Me If You Can’ blazes its way to Detroit for a two-week stopover at the Fisher Theatre from May 7 to 19, 2013.
This musical adaptation of Steven Spielberg’s 2002 critically acclaimed film starring Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio as a charmingly smooth, witty and the youngest con-artist in modern history has been made over into a high-flying musical that will take audiences from coast to coast and even overseas through the FBI’s hot pursuit for a 19-year old defrauder who successfully posed as an airline pilot, a doctor and even a lawyer while robbing banks and other establishments millions of dollars through fake checks. There’s nothing like a cleverly penned adapted book written by Terence McNally of ‘The Full Monty’ fame and the swinging rhythms of the ‘60s composed by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman of ‘Hairspray’ fame to highlight the gravity of the stakes and outcomes in this cat-and-mouse musical that has quick smarts, deception, despair, savvy and action-packed thrills written all over. The performance running time is 2 hours 55 minutes with 1 intermission.
