The Tony Award winning musical The Book of Mormon swings by Des Moines in this spring for a one-week run at the Civic Center from May 3 – 8, 2016.
Winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, The Book of Mormon is no trashy parody. From the comic geniuses who brought us South Park and the Tony winning composer who scored the Broadway comedy Avenue Q, Mormon is a sensibly hilarious satire that pokes fun on religious fundamentalism. The musical follows two Mormon boys sent on a mission to Uganda, however, their dim-wittedness and naiveté turned their mission into a chaotic adventure of clashing cultures, customs and beliefs underscored by the same South Park satiric comedy we all know and love, minus the notorious puns.
Show times for The Book of Mormon in Des Moines are at 7:30 PM from Tuesdays to Saturdays and 6:30 PM on Sundays. Matinee performances are at 2 PM on Saturdays and 1 PM on Sundays. The performance running time is 2 hours and 30 minutes with 1 intermission.
