‘Wicked,’ ‘Jersey Boys,’ ‘Evita’ Storm Broadway San Jose’s 2013-14 Season

“Wicked,” “Jersey Boys” and “Evita” will all come to San Jose, Calif. to help the city celebrate the fifth anniversary of its Broadway season.

All shows will be held at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, which also is where the launch event was held announcing the upcoming season earlier this week. Broadway San Jose General Manager Nanci Williams announced the new shows at the event, and gave the audience a surprise when she welcomed the touring cast of “Jersey Boys” to offer a preview of the show that will be presented during the San Jose 2013-2014 season.

The cast sang a medley of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons songs, and Nick Cosgrove finished with a solo performance of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.” When the musical plays from July 15-20, 2014, it will be the local debut of the production. Other songs featured in the musical include hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “December 1963 (Oh What a Night),” “Sherry,” and “Working My Way Back to You.”

“Wicked” will close out the season with a three week engagement from August 27-September 14, 2014. Bookending that performance is “Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” which will kick off the season and be in town from October 29-November 2.

The new revival of “Evita” will then run November 19-24. After a break for the holidays, the season will continue again with a new tribute to the Bee Gees called “The Australian Bee Gees Show,” which is set to run February 4-9, 2014. And “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” will run May 27-June 1, 2014.

Subscription tickets range from $197 to $489, depending on the section of the seats. Additionally, tickets to single shows also can be purchased. These range from $29 to $136, depending on both show and seat location.
