Glee’s Lea Michele Set to Release Solo Album
“Glee” star Lea Michele is readying her first solo album.
“At the studio right now at my first recording session for MY SOLO ALBUM!!” Michele announced on Friday via Twitter. “I’m so happy and can’t wait for you all to hear this record!!”
No other official details about the new album have been released, so we’ll have to wait for a release date and a track listing. Michele did, however, reveal who is sharing the recording studio with her.
“Best news is that @ddlovato is the room right next door 2 me recording her album!” Michele tweeted. “She so sweet & just gave me such great motivation!”
Michele is no stranger to Broadway, and first appeared in the role of Young Cosette in 1995. She later played Tateh’s daughter in “Ragtime” in 1998 and the roles of Shprintze and Chava in the revival of “Fiddler on the Roof.” She last appeared on Broadway when she originated the role of Wendla in the musical version of “Spring Awakening” in 2006. The musical was written by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and Michele was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. Along with the rest of the cast, she won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album in 2007.
Of course, Michele has been with “Glee” since the series premiered in May 2009. In 2010, she was nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy Television Series.
Michele’s big screen debut came in 2011’s “New Year’s Eve,” where she starred alongside a notable cast including Robert De Niro, Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry, Hillary Swank, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Myers, Jon Bon Jovi and Ludacris. She also appeared in “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” in 2011.
