Alli Mauzey Takes Another Turn as Glinda in ‘Wicked’ on Broadway

Alli Mauzey will return to the role of Glinda in the Broadway version of “Wicked” starting October 16.

Mauzey previously played the same role on Broadway back in 2009, and has been performing the role with the national tour of the production. She will replace Chandra Lee Schwartz, who will play her final performance October 14.

In addition to her stints in “Wicked,’ Mauzey also has appeared on Broadway in “Cry-Baby” and “Hairspray.” She also has appeared in regional productions of “Little Shop of Horrors,” “110 in the Shade” and “City of Angels.”

In additional casting news for the long running show, which plays at the Gershwin Theatre, F. Michael Haynie will step into the role of Boq today, September 25. He will be succeeding Etai BenShlomo. Hayne has been seen in Off Broadway productions of “We the People…,” “Carrie” and “Dogfight.”

The other lead players in the current Broadway cast include Jackie Burns as Elphaba, Randy Danson as Madame Morrible, Dean Massey as Fiyero, Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, Tom Flynn as Dr. Dillamond and Adam Grupper as the Wizard.

The production is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire that explores the early life of Glinda and Ephaba, the witches of Oz. Here’s the official word on the musical from its website:

“Wicked” is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. “Wicked” tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

“Wicked” initially opened at the Gershwin Theatre on October 30, 2003, following previews that began October 8 of that year.
