Dee Roscioli Takes on Elphaba Once Again on ‘Wicked’ Tour

Dee Roscioli will return to the cast of the North American tour of “Wicked” as Elphaba.

Roscioli has played the role previously as a part of the touring version, and also performed the role on Broadway. In fact, she holds the distinction of playing Elphaba in more performances than any other actress. She will take over the role on Tuesday, September 25 in Las Vegas.

Roscioli has an extensive list of theater credits, including the national tour of “Cats” and her own cabaret, “Decidedly Dee.” That show sold out in both New York and Chicago. She has also appeared in New York as part of “The 24-Hour Musicals,” “Murder Ballad,” “Dedalus Lounge,” “Therapy Rocks.”

“Wicked” currently stars Patti Murin as Glinda, Tom McGowan as The Wizard and Kim Zimmer as Madame Morrible. The show is playing now though October 7 in Reynolds Hall at the Smith Center in Las Vegas.

Roscioli will join the production the day after the cast of “Wicked” stages “The Wicked Rocky Horror Show” on September 24. That production, announced last week, is one of many the National Touring Company of Wicked will perform throughout the country to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, as well as local AIDS organizations. Thus far, the touring production has raised over $2 million in seven years for charities.

The Vegas production of “Wicked” also raises money through silent and live auction. Held at the Smith Center, participants in the audience have the chance to bid on prizes including a chance to join the company backstage as well as a walk-on role during the show.

The national tour of “Wicked” currently has dates scheduled through 2013. After the Vegas production wraps, the cast will head to Louisville, Ky. Other cities they will visit in the future include Honolulu, St. Louis and Orlando.
