Memphis Atlanta | Fox Theatre
The 2010 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, “Memphis”, is set to go on its first national tour this year with a kick off point in, where else, Memphis, TN in October.
As part of its forthcoming tour, the musical will also be staged in Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, from January 31 to February 5, 2012.
The official poster of the show says, “His vision. Her voice. The birth of rock n’ roll”. Set in the 1950s and based on true events, “Memphis” tells the story of a visionary white radio DJ and an aspiring African American female singer in the Tennessean city which is the birthplace of the music genre which Elvis Presley has ruled and continues to rule to this day. Written by Tony Award winning playwright Joe DiPietro and with an equally critically acclaimed music penned and composed by David Bryan, “Memphis” is sure to deliver a rockin’ and rollin’ good time with its heart stopping production numbers and a heartwarming story about dreams, love and fame.
