Broadway Denver Announces 2013-14 Season with War Horse, Once
Broadway fans in Denver will have much to love about the newly announced upcoming 2013/14 season that includes productions of “War Horse,” “Once,” “Evita” and many others.
In all, there will be 11 Broadway productions playing various theaters around Denver. The other productions that will play throughout the year are “Jekyll & Hyde,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “The Doyle & Debbie Show,” “Sense & Sensibility The Musical,” “Peter and the Starcatcher,” “Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” “Sister Act” and “Million Dollar Quartet.”
Subscribers to the festival season will gain access to all 11 shows throughout the year, and are available in different packages. Prices start at eight installments of $35.63, and go up to eight payments of $84.88. The prices are dependant on the location of the seats as well as the day of the performances. Subscribers also will have priority access to tickets to “The Book of Mormon” when it returns to Denver in October 2013 at the Buell Theatre.
“War Horse” will kick off the season, opening at the Buell Theatre on January 8, 2013. The production will run through January 20, and features life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company. The production won five Tony Awards at the 2011 ceremony.
Following that production, “Jekyll & Hyde” will also play at the Buell Theatre from January 29 through February 10, 2013. The production will star R&B singer Deborah Cox as well as “American Idol” contestant and Tony Award-nominee Constantine Maroulis.
The first production of the season not held at the Buell Theatre will be “The Doyle & Debbie Show,” which will premiere at the Garner Galleria Theatre in the Spring of 2013. The new hit musical follows the comeback attempt of M. Doyle Mayfield, a country singer with hits in the 1970s and 80s that attempts to revive his career.
