‘November’ Revival Hits Los Angeles with Felicity Huffman, Ed Begley Jr

Felicity Huffman and Ed Begley, Jr. have been slated to star in an upcoming Los Angeles production of David Mamet’s “November.”

The Los Angeles Times reports that the production will begin performances September 26 at the Mark Taper Forum, and will run through November 4 as a limited engagement.

“November” follows the re-election campaign of sitting president Charles Smith (Begley, Jr.), as well as his relationship with his speechwriter, who will be played by Huffman. The two will be joined by actor Rod McLachlan, who will play the President’s advisor, Archer Brown.

“November” first opened on Broadway on January 17, 2008 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. The original Broadway cast included Nathan Lane, Laurie Metcalf and Dylan Baker. Metcalf was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her work in the production.

Huffman is perhaps best known for her Emmy-winning portrayal of Lynette Scavo on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.” The final episode of that series aired in May of this year. She is also known for numerous film and television credits, including Aaron Sorkin’s “Sports Night,” P.T. Anderson’s “Magnolia,” “Frasier,” and “Transamerica,” which earned her a nomination for an Academy Award.

Mamet and Huffman have worked together before on the latter’s Broadway play “Speed-the-Plow,” which was Huffman’s Broadway debut. She also appeared in Mamet’s “Boston Marriage.”

Ed Begley, Jr. won a Tony Award for his role in “Inherit the Wind.” He also has appeared in many other Broadway productions, including “Our Town,” “Zelda,” The Aviator,” “Advise and Consent,” “A Shadow of My Enemy” and “Semi-Detached.” He has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including “This is Spinal Tap,” “Best in Show,” “Pineapple Express” and “St. Elsewhere.”

Rod McLachlan appeared in “Magnolia” with Huffman, and can also be seen in “National Treasure” and “Conspiracy Theory.” His Broadway credits include “Holiday” and “The Government Inspector.”
