Fred Applegate, Rachel York, Erich Bergen Lead ‘Anything Goes’ Tour Cast

The Broadway production of “Anything Goes” played its final show over the weekend, and now producers have announced that the cast for the touring version of the production will include Fred Applegate, Rachel York and Erich Bergen.

The previously announced national tour of the musical, presented by the Roundabout Theatre Company, will launch on October 2 in Cleveland. The tour is then scheduled to run through mid-July of next year. The tour will hit most regions of the United States during the run, visiting cities including Nashville, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Dallas, Tampa, St. Louis and Washington, D.C.

York will star as nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and previously has appeared on Broadway in “Les Miserables,” “City of Angels,” “The Scarlet Pimpernel” and “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.” She also played Lucille Ball in the CBS biopic, “Lucy.” Applegate, known for appearances in “Young Frankenstein” and “Sister Act,” will fill the role of Moonface Martin, and Bergen will play Billy Crocker. Other cast members include Alex Finke and Joyce Chittick, who starred in the original Broadway production.

The musical is a revival of a 1934 Cole Porter musical, and is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall. The production won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical last year.

The current version is based on a 1987 revival of the musical, and the official website describes the musical as follows:

As the S.S. America heads out to sea, two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love… proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail. Peppering this hilariously bumpy ride are some of musical theatre’s most memorable standards, including “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “It’s De-lovely” and of course, “Anything Goes.”
