‘Pushing Daisies’ May be Broadway Bound, Chenoweth to Join?

It’s been over three years since the final episode of ABC’s “Pushing Daisies” aired back in June 2009, but now the show’s creator, Bryan Fuller, hinted that the show may be bound for Broadway in the future.

Fuller appeared at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego on a panel discussing his two new NBC shows, “Mockingbird Land” and “Hannibal.” After the panel, he told TVLine.com that something new was also coming for “Pushing Daisies.”

“We’re working on something that is definitely a “Pushing Daisies” revival,” he said, “and the idea would be to have as many cast [members] as we can to participate in it.”

The original cast include Kristin Chenoweth, Ellen Greene, Swoosie Kurtz, Anna Friel and Chi McBride, among others.

Fuller created “Pushing Daisies” along with Barry Sonnenfeld, perhaps best known for “Men in Black.” The show was critically acclaimed throughout it’s two year run, and was novel in its storytelling approach that combined romance, mystery and fantasy. The show focused on a young man named Ned who discovers that he can return the dead briefly to life when he touches them. The show focuses Ned as he learns about the consequences – both good and bad – of his power.

The show was nominated for a total of 17 Emmy Awards during its run, and won seven of those. Among the wins was  Kristin Chenoweth for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. The show originally premiered in October 2007.

In addition to “Pushing Daisies,” Fuller is also known for his writing work on other shows including “Heroes,” “Star Trek: Voyager” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” He also created the series “Dead Like Me,” and he co created the series “Wonderfalls” with Todd Holland. Fuller wrote the teleplay and also served as executive producer for the television adaptation of Stephen King’s “Carrie.”
