Il Divo Takes Broadway’s A Musical Affair On Tour

The pop opera group sensation that is Il Divo has announced a US and Canada tour of their show Il Divo- A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs of Broadway in 2014. This follows a highly successful week of performances November 7 – 13 at New York’s Marquis Theatre. The tour is set to begin March 28 and end June 7.

The tour is paired with the release of their newest album entitled “A Musical Affair” which  features performances by greats including Michael Ball, Kristin Chenoweth, and  Barbara Streisand. A UK release of the album will come December 2. Duets with Barbra Streisand for “The Music of the Night” (Phantom of the Opera), Kristin Chenoweth for “All I Ask Of You” (Phantom Of The Opera), and Heather Headley for “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” (The Lion King) are all featured on the album. Plus unique interpretations of classic songs such as “Tonight” (West Side Story) and “Some Enchanted Evening” (South Pacific) also make an appearance on the album.

The group is composed of members Urs Buhler, Sebastien Izambard, Carlos Marin,  and  David Miller. Their most recent engagement at the Marquis Theatre marked the first time the group performed together on Broadway. Group member Urs Buhler shared in a statement, “It has been so inspiring to work with such legendary songs from the world of Broadway musicals for our new album. We can’t wait to now perform them in our own style to our fans around the world.”

Stops on the tour include major cities such as Las Vegas, Seattle, Detroit, Boston, Chicago, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, DC, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, and Toronto among many others.

The show was developed by long-term Il Divo collaborator and artistic director Brian Burke. It combines famous songs from Broadway musicals with the individual theatre experiences of each group member. Carlos was cast as Marius in Les Miserables when the show first premiered in Spain in 1993. Meanwhile, David played Rodolfo in Broadway’s La boheme in 2003, which earned seven Tony Award nominations.

Fans of the group and the theatre can expect a magical night of magical performances by the most successful classical crossover group of all times.
