‘Fame The Musical’ Set to Tour U.K. in February
Fame The Musical has planned a new tour in the U.K. that is set to begin in February. The show will open at the New Wimbledon Theatre on Thursday, February 20, 2014 just prior to the UK tour.
Award winning director and choreographer Gary Lloyd will direct the show. His other credits include Thriller Live, 2oth Century Boy, Flash Mob, and The Story of Mark Bolan.
The musical tells the story of a group of young individuals who go through numerous ups and downs in an effort to obtain their ultimate goal which s fame. Press materials describe the show as follows: “At the world famous High School for Performing Arts New York, young talented hopefuls undertake the journey of their lives. Ambition, triumph, heartbreak and romance conspire to steer them off course, and the pressure is too much for some. But, these kids are determined to live forever and as they rocket through breathtaking dance routines and show stopping tunes Fame – the Musical is the feel-good sensation that you will never forget!”
The widely popular and successful musical has had seven West End runs since its premier in the US in 1988. There have been two film renditions of the musical as well; one in 1980 and a more recent version in 2009.
With Lloyd’s new take to the classic musical production, audiences can expect a high-energy and captivating takeĀ on a fan-favorite show. By the end of the show audiences will have been on a gripping ride with the characters through the ups and downs of pursuing their dreams. Both new and old fans will leave having a different perspective on the story.
