‘Let It Be’ Bumps Up Closing Three Months Early on September 1

After 9 previews and 46 performances, the Broadway show Let It Be will close September 1, 1013 at the St. James Theatre.

The Broadway production was originally scheduled to close December 29, 2013, yet low sales have led to the decision to wrap the show up early. Show producers shared that the show was viewed by more than 500,000 on Broadway and brought in about 2 to 2.4 million dollars in revenue. This is in stark contrast to the British version of the show which has earned more than 14 million dollars and has been show to 250,000 people.

Instead of waiting for a greater influx of sales that is typical for the holiday season, the cast and other elements will go towards meeting the show’s worldwide demand. There are plans for a North American tour during the 2014/15 season. A three city Germany tour is taking place in the cities of Leipzig, Cologne, and Frankfurt. Also, included in worldwide touring plans are tours in the UK and an international tour to visit Japan, Monaco, and Moscow.

The show serves as a Beatles tribute, featuring classic songs and some of the Beatles’ biggest hits. It traces the group’s rise to the top while showcasing songs such as “Hey Jude”, “Come Together”, “Yesterday”, “Twist and Shout”, and the song for which the show is named after “Let It Be”.

Let It Be is currently having a successful run at the Savoy Theatre in London’s West End, and is booked there through January 2014. It’s cast includes Graham Alexander, Roberto Angelelli, Jimmy Coburn, Tony Coburn, JT Curtis, Tyson  Kelly, Chris McBurney and Luke Roberts, with John Korba and Daniel A. Weiss. The show is directed by John Maher and produced by Jeff Parry/Annerin Productions, Yasuhiro Kawana, BB Promotion, Rubin Fogel  and Jujamcyn Theaters.
