Original Broadway Cast of ‘A Christmas Story’ Reunite for New York, Boston, Hartford Holiday Tour

The original Broadway Cast of A Christmas Story will reunite once again for holiday shows in three major US cities. The tour will begin running at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford, CT (November 12-17), then it will move to the Wang Theatre in Boston (November 20 – December 8), and will round out at Madison Square Garden in New York City (December 11-29).

The show first launched a national tour in 2011 and then moved on to Broadway in 2012. In 2013, it was nominated for  three Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. The play tells the tale of the 1983 film of the same name. It centers around a young boy named Ralphie whose main Christmas wish is a Red Ryder BB Gun. It follows his fight against numerous obstacles including a frozen flagpole and a Department Store Santa as he whole heartedly pursues his Christmas wish.

The original team of John Rando (Director) and Warren Carlyle (Choreographer) will join forces again to bring this show to the masses. Rando has won a Tony Award for his directing in Urinetown (2002),  while Carlyle has been nominated for awards for his work in  Chaplin, Follies, and Finian’s Rainbow.

The Tony Nominated pair of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight) who are known for their incredible and original songwriting handle the musical score for the show. Songs include “A Major Award”, “You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out”, and “Red Ryder”.

Other play contributors include Walt Spangler with Scenic Design, Elizabeth Hope Clancy with Costume Design, Ken Travis with Sound Design, and Tony Award winner Howell Binkley with Lighting Design.
