West Side Story Pittsburgh | Heinz Hall

West Side Story Pittsburgh | Heinz Hall

An acclaimed and legendary Broadway musical is on its way to Pittsburgh! West Side Story, the celebrated musical with book by Arthur Laurents, is all set to breathe life to an unforgettable tale inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Opening on November 6, 2015, West Side Story takes over the Heinz Hall until November 8, 2015.

West Side Story is set during the 1950s amid the gang wars between the Jets and the Sharks in New York City’s Upper West Side. Caught between the turbulence are Tony and Maria, two lovers from different warring sides. Tony is one of the leaders of the Jets, the gang of Caucasian teenagers. Meanwhile, Maria is the sister of Bernardo, the top leader of the Sharks that is made up of teenage Puerto Rican migrants. With choreography by Jerome Robbins, West Side Story features Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim’s beautiful score that includes theater classics like “Somewhere,” “One Hand, One Heart,” “Maria,” “I Feel Pretty,” “Something’s Coming,” “America,” “Cool,” “A Boy Like That,” and “Tonight.”

Don’t miss West Side Story as it plays the Heinz Hall nightly at 8:00 PM on November 6 to 8 (Tuesday to Sunday), with 2:30 PM matinee performances on November 7 & 8 (Saturday, and Sunday). The run time of West Side Story is 2 hours and 40 minutes.
