The Sound of Music Pittsburgh | Benedum Center

The hills of Pittsburgh are coming alive with music this spring! The Sound of Music, the beloved theater classic that is perhaps best known for its Tony, Academy, and Grammy Award winning score, is joining the exciting line up of shows for the 2015-2016 season of the PNC Broadway Across America – Pittsburgh. Opening on March 22, 2016, The Sound of Music is playing the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts for a week until March 27, 2016.

Directed by Jack O’Brien, The Sound of Music is the story of Maria, a simple girl training to be a nun who is assigned to be the Von Trapp children’s new governess. Inspired by the memoirs of Maria Von Trapp of the Trapp Family Singers, The Sound of Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of its widely loved film version and features classic favorites like “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and, of course, “The Sound of Music.”

Join the Trapp Family’s spirited singing as The Sound of Music takes over the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts stage on March 22 to 24 (Tuesday to Thursday) at 7:30 PM, on March 25 (Friday) at 8 PM, on March 26 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 8 PM, and on March 27 (Sunday) at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. The Sound of Music plays for 174 minutes.
