The deathly yet delightful ‘The Addams Family’ will be spooking everyone in Pittsburgh to complement the fun, sizzling heat of summer next year. They will turn the classy and cozy Benedum Center into their macabre and ghastly resting place for two weeks, from July 31 to August 12, 2012.

In this musical, Gomez and Morticia Addams will realize that they are just like any mortal parent, frightened by the news that your little girl has finally blossomed into a lady thanks to a man, and it’s not just any man. Wednesday’s new beau is smart, hails from a respectable family and a mortal, certainly nothing like them. This news is sure to send everyone over the top, mostly because of annoyance and jealousy, as Pugsley craves for more attention and Morticia tries to regain the spotlight from her own daughter who upstaged her with her sudden jump into womanhood, just when you thought there is nothing that could send this gloomy, laid-back and ghastly family over the edge and make them chaotic.

‘The Addams Family’ is not your typical classic Broadway show revived and adapted for the changing times, as they put it, “this is definitely not the same old song and dance”. Armed with an award-winning creative team led by the same playwright tandem who gave us ‘Jersey Boys’, Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, plus the Drama Desk winning composer and lyricist of ‘The Wild Party’, Andrew Lippa, and Tony Award winning choreographer Sergio Trujillo, this musical is a hit revival for many reasons.
