The New York newsboys are hitting the road to Portland! Newsies, Disney’s acclaimed and smash hit stage musical that won the Tony Awards for Best Musical Score and Best Choreography, joins the US Bank Broadway in Portland’s blockbuster line up of shows for its 2015-2016 season. Opening on April 19, 2016, Newsies will be at the Keller Auditorium until April 24, 2016.
From its successful run on the Great White Way, Newsies has embarked on its sold out national tour and is finally on its way to Portland! An electrifying musical that overflows with spirited dancing and songs, Newsies features lyrics by Jack Feldman, book by Harvey Fierstein, and music by Alan Menken. Inspired by the real Newsboys Strike that happened in New York City in 1899, Newsies is about fighting for what is right and about keeping true to who you really are. It tells the inspirational tale of Jack and a band of teenage newspaper delivery boys who braved against the publishing titans of New York.
Be part of the newsboys ‘ struggle as Newsies plays the Keller Auditorium on April 19 to 22 (Tuesday to Friday) at 7:30 PM, on April 23 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, and on April 24 (Sunday) at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. With one intermission, the performance time of Newsies is 2 hours and 20 minutes.
