One unconventional and glamorous couple is going to turn your spring in Houston upside down with a flair for everything French and everything glitzy, this is ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ and it’s coming to the Sarofim Hall at the Hobby Center in Houston, TX from April 24 to May 6, 2012.

Set in the dizzying night club scene of the French Riviera where drag queens are the stars, ‘La Cage’ is the story of a gay couple, Georges and Albin (who goes by the show name Zaza at night), living a fun, colorful and hassle-free life in the dazzling and vibrant island till Jean-Michel, Georges’ son, brings home a girl and her parents for dinner, a moralist and conservative family who might be in for the surprise of their lives once they meet the flashy couple. Georges and Albin on the other hand struggle to keep a straight face and to stay true to themselves amidst the possibility of prejudice and disapproval.

This musical is one of the few Broadway shows that have won the Tony Awards for both Best Musical (1984) and Best Revival of a Musical (2004 and 2010). In fact, it is one of those exceptional revivals that have won the Best Revival of a Musical honors from the Tony Awards twice within the same decade.
